- Item History
- The school was built in 1878 and opened that same year under its original name, St. Thomas High School. It was renamed St. Thomas Collegiate Institute (STCI) in 1882. The school was demolished in 1967 and students were subsequently relocated to Parkside Collegiate Institute. The school motto, "animi cultus est pretiosior auro" means (roughly) "culture is more precious than gold".
