- Description
- Plaque commissioned by the Malahide United Church to commemorate its reverends and clergymen. The wood of the plaque is shield-shaped, like a portrait-oriented rectangle (as opposed to landscape-oriented) with a convex upper edge, a lower edge that extends to a point in its center, and with a rectangular protrusion on either side of the plaque at the top edge. The wood is stained a mid-toned brown. The text and embellishments on the plaque are engraved into plastic, the text in gold on black rectangular pieces of plastic with a golden-coloured metal border beneath the plastic. At the top of the plaque is the text "MALAHIDE UNITED CHURCH (DUNBOYNE) 'CHOSEN BY GOD' 1910 - TO PRESENT." At either side of this text is a golden-coloured plastic motif of a laurel wreath, a pair of hands clasped in prayer, an open book, and a Roman cross. Below these are the names and dates of clergymen, displayed in four columns. Dates range from 1910 to 2013. The last fifteen plastic rectangles are blank.

On the history of the Malahide United Church (49454 Calton Line, Aylmer)
Residents of Dunboyne made plans to build a church in 1909, and construction began in 1910. After the Clutch Plague of the 1930s, financial strain on the churches of Copenhagen, Mount Salem, and Luton caused their congregations to amalgamate with the church in Dunboyne in 1957. They were joined by the congregations of Summers Corners and Richmond in 1964. During its time, it hosted Sunday morning services, a senior and junior choir, Sunday School classes, and the Young People's group. The church closed its doors in 2013, and as of entry in 2020, the building is a private residence.
