Rev. Seymour Boyce will preach at both services. The Oneida Indian choir will be in attendance at the afternoon meeting and the Ambassador Male Quarter in the evening. In the early 1800s several Baptist families settled close to the Sparta Road and met at the home of Anderson Montross for religious services. In 1831, however, they organized as the First Yarmouth Baptist Church, sometimes known as 'Plains'. Since that time several other Baptist churches were formed in Elgin County, among them being Centre Street Baptist and Edward Street Baptist Churches in St. Thomas. Their roots go back to the First Yarmouth Baptist Church."
