While on a brief tour to the training facilities at the St. Thomas Armories, Lord Elgin displayed an interest in the units operations. Lord Elgin is seen here surrounded by militiamen during a lesson on the machine gun." (C8 Sh4 B1 F1 72a)
- "Inspection- A 30-member honor guard of the Elgin Regiment greeted Lord Elgin's arrival at the St. Thomas Armories Saturday afternoon. Following a brief inspection, Lord Elgin toured the training facilities of the regiment and spoke with the men and officers. Seen here during the inspection are Guard Commander Lt. C. H. Barwick (left) and Lord Elgin." (C8 Sh4 B1 F1 72b)
