- Three black and white photographs used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published June 28, 1971 with captions:
- " Roy Palmerston, left, and the bugle held by Ken Barrett, were two of the oldest veterans of the 91st Overseas Battalion to gather in St. Thomas, Sunday, on the 55th anniversary of the battalion's leaving for overseas. Mr. Palmerston, 93, and a veteran of the South African War, is believed the oldest surviving member of the 91st, whose members are scattered around the world. The bugle held by Mr. Barrett, was played by his father, the late F.L. "Pat" Barrett, also a member of the 91st. The bugle, manufactured in England, is 82 years old, and saw service in the Second World War as well." (18a)
- " Some of the surviving members of the 91st Overseas Battalion, marking the 55th anniversary, Sunday, of their leaving for overseas in June of 1916, posed on the steps of the St. Thomas Memorial Hospital after laying a wreath at the Pearl Street Cenotaph. From left, (front row): Jim Baron, Clarence Rock, Charlie Watling, Stan Swift, Rev. J.L. Petrie, Roy Gorvett; (second row) Reg Mayne, Art Freeman, Jack Wardell, Fred Ellis, Bert Watson, George Walker, (third row) Charles Baldwin, Ab McVicar, Bert Mitchell, Tommy Bell, Harvet Pettit, Sam Armstrong, John Williams, Fred Morley; (back row) Bill Rutter, Harold Sawyer, Jim Glover, Fred Mitchell, Ellis Walker, George Hambleton and Fred Lawson." (18b)
- " Roy Gorvett of Buffalo, left, and Bert Michell of Toronto, members of the 91st Overseas Battalion, laid a wreath at the Pearl Street, Cenotaph, Sunday morning on behalf of the 100-odd surviving members of the 91st around the world. Over 30 of the veterans, who left for overseas in June of 1916, joined in commemorative services and a reunion, Sunday, at the St. Thomas Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. At right is Rev. J.L. Petrie, padre of Branch 41 (St. Thomas) of the legion and president of the 91st Battalion Association. Beside him is Ken Barrett of Port Stanley, son of the 91st's Bugle Major, the late F.L. - " Thirteen surviving members of the 91st Overseas Battalion which was originally based in St. Thomas at the Elgin Regiment took part in the 64th reunion of the battalion on Sunday. There are less than 50 surviving members today of more than 600 who left to fight in the First World War in 1916. Those attending wreath-laying ceremonies were from left, front row: F.G.
