- History / Biographical
- Ned Sparks was born in Guelph on November 19, 1883. His family moved to St. Thomas in 1888. He became a leading Hollywood character actor in both the silent and early "talky" eras. His trademark was his deadpan expression and deep, gravelly voice. Though he died in California in 1954 and was born in Guelph, he always thought of St. Thomas as his home, and regularly arranged for his films to be brought specifically to the city.
