- William Pearce was born on February 1, 1848 in Tyrconnell and died in Calgary, Alberta on March 3, 1930. He was married to Margaret Myer of Seaforth on September 20, 1881. Together, they had seven children; twin boys died as infants. William graduated as a Civil Engineer from the University of Toronto and subsequently became one of the first surveyors of Western Canada, often referred to as "the Czar of the West". He moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1874, where he built the first house to have running water.
