- Physical Description
- 1 photograph: sep; 13.5 x 21.5 cm
- Scope and Content
- A sepia-toned image printed on heavy cardstock, featuring the first Grand Trunk Railway locomotive to cross the newly built iron trestle bridge in St. Thomas in circa 1890. This bridge replaced the original wood/steel bridge constructed in 1872, and was located at the west entrance to the city. A pump house is visible beneath the eastern end of the bridge.
- There are six unidentified men in the photograph; one is standing on top of a boxcar, one is posing from inside the cab, two men (possibly car checkers) are standing on the bridge beside the locomotive, and two men are standing on the snow-covered grass beside the bridge.
- Note that this photograph has been retouched on Ian D. Cameron's instructions to enhance the appearance of the steam issuing from the locomotive.
