Scope and Content
View of the crowd assembled at the Michigan Central Railway Station, June 25, 1916 to witness the departure of the 91st Battalion, C.E.F. enroute to Halifax, Nova Scotia and transport to England. The photographer has etched this caption on the negative: "Crowd assembled at depot to bid Farewell to 91st Btn". View is looking northeast and includes businesses on the north side of Talbot Street, including the Chant Sperrin Dry Goods store on the northeast corner of Talbot and Manitoba Streets (801 Talbot Street), George W. Durkee, auctioneer (773), Bertrand A. Sumner, confectioner (779) - "Fresh Candy" on store awning, and the International Hotel (819-825).
