- Scope and Content
- Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published January 2, 1969 with caption:" A five-year-old mare's flare for good timing gave her owner the honor of having the first foal of the New Year in this area. Murray Duncan, RR 5, St. Thomas, is the proud owner of Dawn Mist, who gave birth to her 85-pound foal, Chief Spot, at about 2 a.m. New Year's Day. All three are shown in the above picture. The colt's father is Kingsatin, a registered quarter horse owned by Bob Paul, RR 1, Union, a horse which came originally from the King farm in Texas, known for its rearing of quarter horses. Usually taking 11 months for a foal to arrive, Chief Spot wasn't expected upon the scene until January 11."
