- Description
- Springfield band helmet. Navy blue felt with gold lyre accent at front, leaf shaped gold accent at top with gold tipped horsehair ornamental spike. Darker gold accents with hooks on back and both sides near bottom. Dark gold chain and dark navy blue felt strap hooks at sides for a chinstrap. Dark blue-grey material lines edge of underside of brim. Tan leather sweatband with sticker at back saying “6 ” in red and encircled. Tan fabric lining inside of crown with “Jesse Shively Springfield Ont. 1892” written on lining with pencil. Owned and worn by Jesse Shively. Jesse Shively was born in 1861 and died in 1921. He marreid Alferetta Baker on December 6, 1893 at her parents residence in Springfield. Alfretta was born in 1864 and died in 1956. They had three children Maude, Fred, and Morgan.
