- Ross Andrews was a photographer for the Tillsonburg News.
- Scope and Content
- Three photographic negatives regarding the arrival of the "Avondale", the first ship into Port Burwell in the spring of 1966. An envelope with the identification of what is depicted in the negatives, is stored with the negatives.
- 277a shows, left to right: David Allan; Ivor Rowley, the reeve of Port Burwell; Alvin Loucks, Councillor; Robert Allan, President of the Chamber of Commerce; Captain John Watson; Wilf Tait, Secretary-Treasurer of the Chamber of Commerce.
- 277b shows, left to right: Robert Allan, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Manager of the CIBC, presenting a top hat to Captain John Watson, the captain of the "Avondale", the first vessel into Port Burwell in 1966. The top hat was 140 years old, and was presented to the Captain of the first ship into Port Burwell each spring.
- 277c shows Ivor Rowley, the man on the ladder in the felt hat.
- The photographs were taken on the Imperial Fuels dock. The "Avondale" carried 6000 tons of coal, and was expected to visit Port Burwell once a week in 1966. Harbour Master Bruce Park expected 400,000 tons of coal over the year- it was used by Canada Cement at St. Marys.

- In April 2021, Margaret Scott commented the following: "Great memories of growing up in Port Burwell back during this time. My Dad Robert Allan, in the middle of this photo holding the top hate, was the bank manager at the time in Port Burwell as well as Vienna. I believe the young lad on the left is my brother David. Thank you for sharing".
