Captions from St. Thomas Times-Journal: "Dunwich Township Has Noteworthy Examples of Early Architecture." "Stetely Old Homes Along Historic Road: Two Are Over a Hundred Years Old, Two Others Close to the Century Mark, With a Total Age of Approximately 416 Years." [Information in square brackets is from the article]. 1_2413: "Built by Andrew Backus, now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Morley Page." [West of Port Talbot toward Wallacetown, along the Lake Road, north side, west of Stephen Backus residence. Built about 1849. Steph Backus' daughter, Mary Storey, owned the house after her father. She donated the land from the farm for the site of St. Peter's Church.] 1_2414: "Colonel Patterson's old home, now owned by the D. M. Littlejohn family." [West of Port Talbot. Built in 1826, this house served as an Anglican meeting place before St. Peter's Church at Tyrconnell was built in 1828. Colonel Patterson served in the War of 1812 and the Rebellion of 1837]. 1_2415: "The old Conn residence, now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Smith." [West of Port Talbot toward Wallacetown, along the Lake Road, home on north side of road. Built about 1848, the big front room was originally planned as a Methodist meeting place]. 1_2416: "The Stephen Backus home, on G. H. Lidster and Son's farm." [West of Port Talbot toward Wallacetown, along the Lake Road, north side, west of Conn residence. Built about 1844].
