- Scope and Content
- Photographs of a group of school children from Wellington Street Public School participating in a carnival at the home of Harold Goodwin, 93 Hincks Street, St. Thomas, taken on September 28, 1946. Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal: "They Showed the Right Spirit: As a result of efforts put forth by a group of pupils from Wellington Street Public School, $15.56 was raised for the United Home Services drive at a carnival held at the rear of the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Goodwin, 93 Hincks street, on Saturday afternoon. They are shown here standing behind the counter of the refreshment booth where hot dogs, chocolate bars and chocolate milk were sold readily by Bob Goodwin to a large crowd of patrons, some of whom were also caught by the camera. Standing, left to right, are: Jimmy Geddes, Ken Rankin, Bob Goodwin, Dick Cutler, Don Mortin, Lynn Goodwin, Judy Kennedy. All but the last one were responsible for organizing and running the affair. Patrons sitting in front are, left to right, Marjorie Treleaven, Penny Preston, Molly Metcalfe, Mac Watson, Carolyne Derrough. Among the youngest present was Mary Kennedy, seen here sitting on the table still clutching her bottle of milk. Other features of the afternoon were boxing matches between Dave Gilbert and Harold McCart; wrestling matches between Dick Cutler and Ken Rankin, who were dressed as clowns; a skit by Don Mortin, also a clown, Dick Cutler and Ken Rankin, and a penny pitch, operated by Lynn Goodwin."
