- History / Biographical
- In the early years if settlement, school was held in various private homes, with Angus Campbell of Port Talbot as teacher. About the same time there was a school on Lot 16, Talbot Rd. taught by a Mr. Thomas McColl. These schools were replaced by a 17' by 20' log structure on Lot 14, Concession 13 which had only one door and one window. Around the year 1858 a new white frame school was built on land bought from Mr. W. Mowberry on the northeast corner of the intersection in Eagle. By the 1880's attendance had significantly increased so a harness shop owned by Mr. Frederick Lindermare was purchased and moved to the school site for use as a second classroom. The entire structure was destroyed by fire in 1984. The school built to replace it was made of brick and cost $1,943. This school was used up until 1955 when it was renovated for use as a community hall. A two-room, one-storey, yellow brick building was erected in 1955 and used up until the consolidation of the school sections in June, 1965.
