- MacKenzie Correspondence from William Blank. Loch Leven Hotel, Onich, Fort William, Inverness Shire, Scotland. Born in Aberdeenshire, Married. Both employed at the Hotel's farm. This letter is in response to an ad posted by John McGregor on behalf of Robert Mackenzie of Edgeware Road St Thomas in the Sunday Post (Scotland) for farm labourers/managers on February 13 1949. The original ad is as follows: Here’s A Chance! I am an emigrant who has been in Canada only a few weeks. A new store for feeding stuffs opened here the other day. They gave a free dance and 80 prizes. While I was at the dance I was approached by a farmer. He asked if I knew a young couple experienced in farming. He has two farms and would like to find a fully experienced young couple to run an 83-acre one. The farmer’s name is -Robert Mackenzie, Edgeware Road, St Thomas, Ont., Canada -John McGregor, Dutton, Ontario.
