- Two black and white photographs used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published June 17, 1970 with captions:
- "Vehicle Inspection - Officers and other employees of the Department of Transport, Motor Vehicle branch, are conducting a vehicle safety inspection this week in the city. All aspects of vehicle operation are being tested in a specially arranged mall on Mondamin Street beside City Hall". (1a)
- "Off with the Plates - Cars which do not pass the current downtown safety inspection have the licence plates removed until the car is restored to a safe operating condition according to Department of Transport specifications. About 12 cars have been taken off the road in the first two days of safety checks. A City Police Constable, Ed Lauzon, is shown removing the plates form one car which failed to pass the inspections".
