- Scope and Content
- Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published October 23, 1971 with caption:" Tepehone operators in St. Thomas walked off the job, Friday afternoon to join a strike by the 8,500-memeber Traffic Employees Association against Bell Canada over delays in contract bargaining talks. Seven of the 24 operators employed locally were on duty at the time the walkout order came from a London union office and the women immediately set up picket lines in a light drizzle. A local spokesman said that the walkout would continue until senior union officials advised the women to return to work."
