1_820: “A view of the flag presentation ceremony at the Aylmer Fairgrounds on Coronation Day. The Union Jack, floating from the top of the pole, was presented by the Aylmer Women’s Institute, as the first flag was raised the General Salute was sounded and the armed guard of the R. C. A. F. to the rear, presented arms. To the rear of the armed contingent are shown more of the men of the R. C. A. F. Station. To the right are the school children. In front to the left is one of the floats carrying one of the girls representing Queen Elizabeth. Other flags were also presented, one to the R. C. A. F. Station.”

Mr. Hardy’s nine-year-old daughter, Marilyn Hardy, led a class of 14 Western Ontario boys and girls in showmanship with her calf. John L. Stansell, shown at the rear, was one of the founders of the Canadian Association.”

2_1752: “Catherine Pinneo, Aylmer, one of the local equestriennes, who excelled in the saddle and jumper events at Aylmer Fair, Tuesday afternoon. She is shown performing a perfect jump in the Elgin County jumping events. Two Pinneo horses finished first and fourth in this event: Hueston’s horse of Aylmer was second, and Dick Davies, St. Thomas, on his Lady Elgin, was third. In the road hack class, one of the main events, Dick Davies was first, Jack Richards of Aylmer was second; Russ Paddon, St. Thomas, third; Miss Roberts, London, Ont., fourth.”

2_1749: “W. D. (Don) Shore, R.R. 6, St. Thomas, was the premier exhibitor at the Black and White Day of the Elgin Dairy Cattle Show at Aylmer Fair, Tuesday. He took eight first prizes and won the grand championships in both male and female classes, as well as the junior and reserve junior championships in females. He is shown with his outstanding cow, Royal Model Calamity Patsy, which was named senior champion and grand champion of the Show. Nearly one hundred top Holsteins of the district were in competition.”

2_1429: “Here was the interesting float entered by Clevite Limited, one of St. Thomas’ newest industries, with employees operating a broach on one end of the float, others spinning a wheel.”
2_1431: “As through out for a Sunday walk was this family of four dressed in the fashion of many years ago, father with a lush, full beard, mother on his strong right arm.”
2_1428: “A replica of Port Burwell’s most famous landmark, the harbor light, was erected on a float entered in the parade by that village, and it was among the most original of the many which passed in review.”
2_1433: “A blacksmith shop on wheels with a bearded smithy was one of the outstanding floats entered in the parade. It represented the first shop of John Studebaker, founder of the motor company which bears his name.”

2_2602: “Hundreds of people come to St. Thomas from London, where Santa Clause parades are not the fashion to view Thursday’s spectacle. Above Sharon 7, Reta 6, Frances 4, and Carol 3, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. W. Mehn, 110 Edward street, London, can’t wait until Santa come along.”
