- Aladdin model 23 short Lincoln drape table lamps represent the first glass Aladdin lamps sold in the United States since the clear plain stem Washington drape (B-53) was discontinued in 1955. They have been in production longer than any other Aladdin glass lamp. Victor S. Johnson founded and incorporated the Western Lighting Company in Minnesota, USA in 1907. The first Aladdin lamp was introduced in 1909. At the time, there was already a company named The Aladdin Light Company and so Johnson could not call his company "Aladdin" until the first company closed and the trademark ran out. 2

- The "Embury Manufacturing Company" was incorporated on November 27, 1908 and located at 189 Platt Street, Rochester, NY. In 1953 the Embury Lantern Co. folded and sold out to Dietz. World War II created some problems by restricting the use of tin, the War Production Board (WPB) included lanterns on the list of products that must switch over to "terne" plated steel. This new material did not have the bright, shiny appearance of tin, nor did it hold up well in the weather. Lanterns made from this metal had to be painted so a new electrostatic paint system was installed to efficiently paint the products without creating a significant cost. This lantern has been painted black suggesting that it was created during WWII. 1
