- "Discuss Recovery Plans - A General Motors official holds a picture of the test vehicle which sank in Lake Erie Monday while undergoing trials off Port Stanley at Little Beach. One man drowned in the mishap and another was saved from the lake. Looking on is Jeff Wright, one of two contract drivers hired to hook towing cables to the submerged vehicle, which was expected to be hauled from about six metres of water today. This morning divers finally pinpointed the amphibious armored vehicle which has eight wheels and is power in the water by two propellers." (1a)
- "Rescue Vehicle - A General Motors amphibious light armored vehicle stands on Little Beach after returning from Lake Erie where it rescued one of two crewman who were testing a new prototype similar to the one shown which sank yesterday at noon. The other crewman died in the mishap. An autopsy is being conducted today at St. Joseph's Hospital, London." (1b)

- "Right Height- Ford Pre-Delivery Department General Manager Frank Bates points out the height at which cars on the assembly line approach a new unloading machine which has been installed at the St. Thomas Ford Assembly Plant prior to continuing production. The machine, which automatically places the vehicles on a ground conveyor, a job previously requiring two people, will increase efficiency at the plant, Mr. Bates said. Although he could not give an estimate of the value of the apparatus, Mr. Bates said it cost 'a lot of money,' and pointed out that the addition of the new equipment indicated a continuing interest by the Ford Motor Company in the Talbotville operation." - "Checks Fit- Danny Fraser of Glencoe, who has been employed by Ford of Canada for 14 years and is now with the customer acceptance department, checks the fit of the doors on a Ford Escort which came off the assembly line before Christmas, in preparation for an internal audit at the plant today." - "Touching Up Escort- Senior employees of the Customer Acceptance Department of the St. Thomas Ford Assembly Plant were on the job last week preparing automobiles, which came off the assembly line just before Christmas, for production which resumed today. Here, Ron Harrison, vice-president of the St. Thomas local of the United Auto Workers of America, who has been with the company for 14 years, touches up paint on a Ford Escort. Mr. Harrison said the production line, which has been shut down since Jan. 5, would be fully staffed Monday. The plant will shutdown again, this time for two weeks, after a one week on period." Under this program, hourly workers have been selected as quality upgrade operators to assist in maintaining high quality standards during production. From one to three quality upgrade personnel will be assigned to each assembly zone. Production on the new cars will start February 16, with public launch scheduled for mid-April."
