- Photographs of a 1935 Dodge that rolled into a ravine.
Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal, January 13, 1953, page seven: “Goes to Dump of Own Accord.”
2_2515: “It wasn’t ready for the dump heap, but that’s where this 1935 Dodge would up late last evening at the bottom of the Palm street fill near the banks of Mill Creek. It’s owner, a St. Thomas Brewers’ Warehouse truck driver, had been visiting friends on Mabel street Monday evening and left the car standing at the curb. When he came out, the car was gone. It had taken off of its own accord and traveled down the steep grade to the west and over the north side of the Palm street fill in the ravine, rolling over and over down the steep, brush-covered embankment. There its rueful owner finally found it, surveyed it resting upside down and left it until Tuesday morning before doing anything about getting it out of there.”

- Photographs of a car accident and a gathering crowd in front of the Teeter service station in Eagle.
Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal, April 19, 1952, page one: “Scene of Mishaps at Eagle.”
2_576: “This was scene in Eagle late Friday afternoon of a series of accidental occurrences which culminated in the death in Memorial Hospital of H. Benton Goodbrand, 46, of Toronto. Looking east, this view takes in the driveway in front of the Teeter service station where the trouble started when Harry Gallagher, 86, of West Lorne, drove into the service station property and rammed a tractor (at the left in the photo), then veered off the right and came to a stop at the edge of the highway. The Gallagher car appears in the centre-left foreground. The tractor knocked a gas pump off its base and gasoline from the tractor’s broken tank took fire. While men at the service station were fighting the fire, Harry Kell, 66, of Rondeau, drove by going east of the service station when a westbound car driven by Goodbrand rammed head on into him. Their wrecked car are shown at the right in the photo where they came to rest in the middle of the highway. Goodbrand, not apparently seriously injured, died of a heart attack just after he arrived in Memorial Hospital for an examination. Kell, also brought to the hospital, was seriously injured and his condition is “just fair” today.”

- Photographs of a automobile accident on Iona Road near Dutton, which claimed the lives of Ralph Welch and Billie Rick.
Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal: "Big Truck in Death Plunge on Dunwich Road: Fragment of Burnt Cotton Jersey Serves to Identify Boy Victim as Billy Rick."
2_3133: "The bog five-ton coal delivery truck that carried Ralph Welch, driver, and his little companion, to their deaths, on the Iona Road, about a mile east of Dutton, about 12:30 o'clock, Thursday noon, overturned and literally flattened out in the northeast corner of a field on Russell Miller's farm, after striking the soft soil of the shoulder on the north side of the road, at the bottom of a little grade, to swerve sharply across the road and crash through a wire fence. The front of the truck body apparently grazed the trunk of the small tree against which a boy may be seen leaning, evidently causing the truck to completely overturn, all four wheels in the air. The driver is believed to have got into difficulties as he reached the brow of the grade as the rear part of the box was found on the embankment at the south side of the road."
2_3134: "A picture of the truck immediately after it was righted by a wrecking truck from Wallacetown. Only the cab and the front part of the truck were burned by the flaming gasoline pouring from the tanks under the truck. The two bodies, horribly burned, were in the seat of the cab. Looking into the cab is Provincial Constable Harold MacDonald, of St. Thomas, who investigated the terrible accident; while Coroner Dr. M. B. Graham, of Dutton, is seen to the extreme left in the forefront. Dr. Graham was one of the first to reach the scene. No person actually witnessed the accident."
2_3136: "Billie Rick."

- Photographs of a three vehicle collision on No. 3 Highway near Morpeth.
Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal on June 16, 1950, page three: “Two Car and Transport Involved in Crash.”
2_3927: “Gerald Garton, Woodstock, Ont., has a miraculous escape from death and injury, in the above accident on King’s Highway No. 3 at the east entrance to Morpeth, about 3:30 o’clock on Thursday afternoon when both side of his new car were ripped off and the rear crushed in as a result of an accident involving a large transport truck and a motor car driven by Charles Keljikien, of Chelsea Mass. The truck and the Massuchetts car were proceeding west while Garton was eastbound. As a dip in the highway at the east entrance to Morpeth was approaching, Keljikien pulled out of line to pass the truck, then seeing Garton approaching up over the hill, tried to pull back into lie but unable to do so took to the south shoulder to avoid a collision. Keljikien is said to have lost control of his car, which swerved back on to the pavement ,striking the front wheel of Garton’s car and knocking his car directly in the path of the big truck. Garton stepped out his wrecked car, which remained on the pavement, without a scratch. The Keljikien car landed in the ditch on the south side of the highway the truck on the north side of the highway. Keljikien’s mother suffered a fracture of her right ankle, but other passengers in the car escaped without injury.
Times-Journal representatives returning to St. Thomas from Ridgetown, reached the scene a few minutes after the accident, some time before the police arrived. The accident was investigated by Provincial Constable H. Mason of the Kent detachment.”
