Belmont Public School was also known as South Dorchester Township S.S. # 11 and as South Dorchester/Yarmouth/Westminster/North Dorchester U.S.S. # 11/20/12/20. The teachers are shown posed in front of the school and a plaque indicating the school's date of construction: 1887. The three-room school on Union St., Belmont was in use from 1887 until its closing in June, 1969.

Long-serving member of the Board of Governors of Amasa Wood Hospital and Memorial Hospital, St. Thomas. President of the Ontario Oriental Flour Co., St. Thomas, for more than 50 years. Horton was the (unsuccessful) Liberal Party candidate in Elgin West in the Ontario Provincial Election of June 25, 1923. Isabel Allison Horton was born in 1872 and died in 1956.
