"Hold 'Er Boy - Because of a stiff breeze, airmen demonstrating parachute control during Saturday's program at the Aylmer station had their hands full. Here a 'chute threatens to drag an airman across the airdome." (2a)
"Jets Still the Big Attraction - This CF-100 Air Force jet aircraft on display at R.C.A.F. Station Aylmer, proved a big attraction on Air Force Day. Visitors were given a chance for a close look throughout the afternoon show." (2b)
"Work for the Firemen - Although it wasn't for real, members of the Aylmer station fire department went to work on this blaze with a will. It was part of a demonstration of the techniques and equipment used to fight aircraft fires during Saturday's big show." (2c)

Bryans, Air Officer Commanding, Training Command, Trenton, is seen inspecting a flight of airwomen during a ceremonial parade at R.C.A.F. Station Aylmer on Monday. The air vice-marshal was making his annual inspection of the station. On his right is Wing Commander Arthur H. Moody, officer commanding the station. Other members of the inspecting party are Flight Lieutenant G. Lipkin, station adjutant, and Sqn. Ldr. F.M. Harding, senior accounts officer."

"Personnel at R.C.A.F. Station, Aylmer were on parade Friday during handing-over ceremonies as Wing Commander Arthur H. Moody, officer commanding the station, turned over his post to Sqn. Ldr. William H. Dunbar, former chief administrative officer. The picture, taken from the control tower, shows the airmen and airwomen in wing formation on the tarmac as the ceremony got under way." (7a)
"The new commanding officer of R.C.A.F. Station Aylmer, Sqn. Ldr. William H. Dunbar, led station personnel in cheers for retiring commanding officer Wing Commander Arthur H. Moody, during handing-over ceremonies on Friday. The popular former stationhead left for a new post at Maritime Air Command Headquarters, Halifax, today. Sqn. Ldr. Dunbar is seen here, left, as he called for three hearty cheers for the departing chief." (7b)

Three black and white photographs used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published November 25, 1958 with captions:
"Discussions About to Start - Hon. George R. Pearkes, Minister of National Defence, arrives in the station library at R.C.A.F. Station, Aylmer, to start discussions about the future of the station. The station had been scheduled to close in 1960, and a delegation of reeves, mayors and councilmen from Aylmer, Springfield, St. Thomas and Malahide, with Ron McNeil, M.L.A. for Elgin, and Warden John B. Wilson of Elgin County were on hand to see what could be done to keep the station active." (5a)
"Veteran Meets Wartime C.O. - Alfred A. Silcox of Shedden was on hand to greet Hon. George R. Pearkes, V.C., during his tour of R.C.A.F. Station Aylmer on Monday. Mr. Silcox served in the 116th Infantry battalion in 1917 and 1918, when Mr. Pearkes was colonel in charge of the battalion. Mr. Silcox and Mr. Pearkes were in action in the Amiens district during the push on to Paris. Also in the picture are St. Thomas Alderman Vincent A. Barrie and in the rear Thomas H. Currah, who represented St. Thomas during the meeting with Mr. Pearkes and district municipal representatives." (5b)
"Inspects Guard of Honor - After stepping from his plane at R.C.A.F. Station, Aylmer, Hon. George R. Pearkes, Minister of National Defence inspected a guard of honor in one of the hangars. Here accompanied by Flying Officer Frank Boucher, guard commander, he walks through the ranks of the men as the station band plays music." (5c)

Station Aylmer shortly before noon today to talk with district officials about future plans for the air station. Municipal officials from Aylmer, Springfield, and St. Thomas hope to be able to prevent the proposed closing of the station. Here Mr. Pearkes alights from the R.C.A.F. Transport Command aircraft, flanked by Air Vice-Marshal J.G. Bryans, Air Officer of Training Command, left, and Wing Commander Arthur H. Moody, Commanding Officer of the R.C.A.F. Station Aylmer. Station Aylmer, about two and a half miles northeast of town to accommodate many of the families stationed there."

Station Winnipeg some 35 years and 140,000 aircrew [following the first graduating class of trainees, December 20, 1924] another class is to graduate in a ceremony which will mark the final chapter of the R.C.A.F.'s 35th anniversary celebrations. [Shown is] part of the class which will graduate this Friday, beside a modern T-33 jet on which they were trained."

Scope and Content
Black and white photograph retained for reference by the St. Thomas Times-Journal. Cutline reads "Ruth Peters of Aylmer poses at her home with a picture of herself as switchboard operator at the Aylmer Service Flying Training School. Mrs. Peters, a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 81 in Aylmer, said she got a chance to fly in an Anson trainer during the Second World War at the base, but remarks, 'Oh, I was sick. It was like flying in a wagon.' She also got a chance to fly in a Harvard and remarks, 'I thought I'd die.' She was one of many members of the Women's Division stationed at the base who performed a wide range of duties."
