Scope and Content
Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published June 5, 1974 with caption: "A.J. Expands - A. J. Charest puts the sledge hammer to a portion of the vacant building east of his dealership on Talbot Street after announcing this morning a $100,000 expansion to that property. The move, which will bring all the segments of his dealership together, is expected to be completed by the end of September. Watching the action, from his left are, Bob Boissoin, district sales manager for General Motors, Dave Thwaites, president of the St. Thomas Chamber of Commerce, and Ald. Ed Currah, acting mayor and president of the St. Thomas Industrial and Commercial Development Corporation." (1)
Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published October 20, 1975 with caption: "Did Its Job - Bill Bennett, an employee at A.J. Chev-Olds-Cadillac on Talbot Street looks at the charred inside of the building's main power panel which erupted into a brief, but small, fire late Saturday morning. Mr. Bennett said by the time the fire department arrived the flames had disappeared but the box was still smouldering. Mr. Bennett said the panel did its job in blowing, otherwise there may have been a more serious fire. The small fire did not affect business at the dealership this morning." (2)
