Scope and Content: Series consists of annual reports issued 1938-1982 by the Elgin County Library Board and its predecessor bodies the Elgin County Library Co-Operative Board and the Elgin County Library Association Board. The annual report issued in 1938 covers the period 1936-1938. The annual report for 1957 was not issued until late in 1958 and thus also covers the year 1958.; Annual reports provide summaries of significant events, activities, and programs initiated and/or completed by the Library; lists of Library Board members and Library administrative staff; reports on individual branch libraries/ participating local and municipal library boards and associations; library circulation and other statistics; and annual financial accounts for the year just ended and budget estimates for the ensuing year.; Beginning with the report for 1971, annual reports include various reports, articles and essays on subjects of local historical interest in addition to the standard report data.; At a meeting held July 18, 1989 the Library Committee of Elgin County Council resolved that "in future there will be no Annual Report, as there is no longer a legal need to publish the financial information concerning the County Library, this information being included in the Clerk's summary which is published every year."
