One black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published August 11, 1981, with caption:
"Back together - The remaining members of the St. Thomas Optimist Club juvenile baseball team of 1939 and 1940 got together at the Sheridan Inn on the weekend evening for the first time since their playing days. Pictured in front row, from left, are Dick Killingsworth, a first baseman on that team[;] right fielder Ross Leakey, pitcher Doug Whistlecraft and coach Ed Saunders. Back row, from left, are catcher and team captain Jack Armstrong, shortstop-second baseman Bill Watson; second baseman Ed Claypole, pitcher Bob Bentley and third baseman Bill McArthur." (2a)
"Remember when? - Remaining members of the St. Thomas Optimist Club juveniles, who played in the St. Thomas and District Juvenile Baseball League in 1939 and 1940, held a reunion at the Sheridan Inn on the weekend. "Avid supporters - Ron and Debbie green of St. Thomas were great fans of Gilles Villeneuve, the Canadian Formula 1 Grand Prix racer who was tragically killed in a violent accident during practice runs for the Belgian Grand Prix on the weekend. Mrs. Green is pictured above with Jacques Villeneuve, brother of Gilles, and also a race driver who plans to carry on where his brother left off in the sport." (2f)

"Basketball entertainers coming - The fabulous Harlem Crown take on St. Thomas secondary school all-stars Friday in an exhibition basketball game at Parkside Collegiate Institute. Among them are Herb Scaife, the 6-foot-6 playing manager, an 18-year veteran of the team considered to be the clown prince of the organization, and Bobby Joe Woodson, from Oakland, Calif., who played at West Washington State. The Crown call Woodson the world's greatest dribbler, showman and comic supreme. Game time is 8 p.m. to be preceded by a students vs. staff game at 6:30 p.m." (2g)
