- Photographs of the internment of Col. Frederick G. Stanbury in the St. Thomas Old English Cemetery. Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal: "Veteran of Three Wars Buried in Historic Cemetery." "In the presence of his military comrades, his work associates and friends, the mortal remains of Col. F. G. Stanbury, V.D., former Commanding Officer of the Elgin Regiment, and veteran of the Boer War, World War I and World War II, were laid to rest in the 124-year-old English Church cemetery on Wednesday afternoon. The above picture was taken while Bugler Ken Barrett was sounding "The Last Post" and "Reveille" during the Canadian Legion service, which followed the Anglican church service, conducted by Rev. J. R. Thompson, rector of Trinity Church, who is seen standing at the side of the grave. The pallbearers are seen at the right. Reading towards the left they are: Major F. O. Lewis, Lt.-Col. H. C. Cameron, Captain, R. F. Hunt, Major W. J. Balkwill, Major R. W. Rankin and Major Wilfred King. Standing at attention in the centre of the picture is Air Commodore Reginald Collis, president of the St. Thomas branch of the Legion, who conducted the Legion service, and on his right are Lt.-Col. W. J. Green, who served with Col. Stanbury in the Boer War and World War I, and Erle Burgess, past president of the Legion's Ontario Command. Some of the members of the Legion and employees of The Times-Journal staff, who attended in a body, are seen at the left of the picture. (See page 10)."

The momument marks the graves of seven members of an aristocratic family of early settlers in Southwold Township who died within a period of seven years. They were William Chisholm, his wife, Frances Oswold Grant Chisholm, and five of their six children. The unusual momument was erected by the child who survived, R.B. Chisholm, who left these parts as a youth, following the tragic fate of his family, to make a fortune in California and Utah". Republished in "Centennial Album" feature, April 18, 1981.
