Eva Cosens (nee Thompson) was born in Harrow, Ontario to the late Lennox and Silina Thompson. She was a long-term resident of West Lorne, Ontario with her husband, Sydney Cosens, and was known locally for writing articles on community and historical affairs. She often signed her articles with the initials "ETC". She died on May 29th, 1968 in St. Thomas and is buried at the Colchester Cemetery in Harrow, Ontario.

File includes handwritten notes taken from Eva Cosen's notebooks, including a history of "The Eagle's Nest" (now Eagle, Ontario), including information about its first church and school, the origin of the hamlet's name, Lindenman's Store, the Eagle Union Church, the blacksmith shop, and farm houses. Also includes a list of teachers at the Eagle School, from 1818 to 1920, and a list of soldiers from Eagle, who served in the First World War and Second World War. Also, a handwritten History of Eagle Schools, author unknown.

The first letter discusses her submission of a photograph of her great-grandmother, who was born in Ireland in 1790, and emigrated to Canada, south of St. Thomas, Ontario. The second letter includes histories of three main factories in West Lorne, including Erie Flooring and Wood Products Ltd., Milner-Rigsby Company Ltd., and the Conklin Lumber Company Ltd..
