She won the gold leaf comport. John Gillick was presented with the Wesley and Irving Thomas Cup awarded annually to the Aldborough tobacco grower winning the most prizes in the flue tobacco class. John also won the Royal Bank silver tray for having the best tobacco on display."

She is shown performing a perfect jump in the Elgin County jumping events. Two Pinneo horses finished first and fourth in this event: Hueston’s horse of Aylmer was second, and Dick Davies, St. Thomas, on his Lady Elgin, was third. In the road hack class, one of the main events, Dick Davies was first, Jack Richards of Aylmer was second; Russ Paddon, St. Thomas, third; Miss Roberts, London, Ont., fourth.”

2_1749: “W. D. (Don) Shore, R.R. 6, St. Thomas, was the premier exhibitor at the Black and White Day of the Elgin Dairy Cattle Show at Aylmer Fair, Tuesday. He took eight first prizes and won the grand championships in both male and female classes, as well as the junior and reserve junior championships in females. He is shown with his outstanding cow, Royal Model Calamity Patsy, which was named senior champion and grand champion of the Show. Nearly one hundred top Holsteins of the district were in competition.”

- The Banquet Committee of the Local Committee for the 1960 International Plowing Match and Farm Machinery Demonstration was established at a meeting of the Executive Committee held September 28, 1959. C.M. Williams was appointed committee chairman. The committee was responsible for organizing the 1960 International Plowing Match and Farm Machinery Demonstration Banquet held October 14, 1960 at the St. Thomas-Elgin Memorial Arena, and for regulating the activities of caterers at the International Plowing Match and Farm Machinery Demonstration held October 11-14, 1960 in the vicinity of Springfield, Ontario.
