Quite a crowd of locals were on hand to watch her compete in the Queen of the Furrows contest, including Mrs. Audrey Johnston, Mrs. Lynn Lashbrook, Manson Robins, Wilfred Johnston, Mrs. Margaret Robinson, Mrs. Robert Schnekenburger, Mrs. Leo Willie, Ray Lemon, and Cathy Corwall. Sharon's father, Ray is at the right. Her coach, Neil Gilchrist, is seen wiping his brow just to the right of the muffler. Reeve Douglas Todd, Donald M. McKillop and others were also present, but are not shown in the picture."

Here they are seen being previewed on the Tented City streets, being pulled by a tractor driven by last year’s Queen before their competition Thursday.”

All three won prizes for their plowing capabilities. Here Don is shown holding a cheque as his prize. Gary won two silver trays from Eatons and Topnotch Feeds - the latter being away getting engraved. Jack won the Elgin Co-op trophy and the smart new trophy made available for the first time this year by Aldborough Township Council. However, he will have to win it three times to retain possesion."
