- Description
- Framed watercolour painting by artist Isabel Frey. It depicts a road, which begins in the foreground in the center of the image and extends toward the horizon at the left side of the image. The road is lined with tall, orange and green trees (likely maple), and tall grass. A driveway appears at the left, across the road from a black mailbox. There is a black buggy marked with a slow-moving vehicle sign on the road in the distance. It is signed by Isabel Frey in the lower right corner, and dated 2009. It has a cream-coloured matting with a dark green inner border. On the matting is the title "MAPLE GROVE ROAD." Displayed in a wooden frame and overlaid with glass. The frame has a cardboard backing, with a sticker reading "CUSTOM FRAMING by David Ritchie, Aylmer, ON, 519-765-2011."
There is a Maple Grove Line in Bayham, Ontario.

- Description
- Partial calendar, consisting of the front and back cover, and the month of December, 2008. On the front cover is a gold and red motif of a koi fish jumping from a body of water, and a sun shining in the upper right corner. Across the cover is stylized, red text in a Chinese language. The month of December is taped to the back cover. At the upper left corner of this page is a simplified calendar of the previous month, and in the upper right corner is the following month. At the top of the page is text which declares 2008 as the Year of the Rat, a reminder that the Winter Solstice is on the 21st, and other phrases or sayings in a Chinese language. The calendar provides translations for the days of the week, and on each day is advice to the reader, listing things that should be avoided on each day, and things that a person should do on that day (for example, the sixth is a good day to get married or enter a contract, but a bad day to move houses or travel far). At the upper left corner, in the empty space before Monday the 1st, is a motif of a small pig with a stem of flowers. In the bottom right corner, in the space following Wednesday the 31st, is text in both English and a Chinese language which describes personality traits of those born under the year of the pig. Below the month of December, on the back cover of the calendar, is an advertisement of a brand of "Oriental" food market, with the slogan "ALWAYS THERE FOR YOUR FAMILIES!" Lists locations in Markham, Mississauga, Toronto, and North York. The calendar was used as decoration in the Capitol Café.
Capitol Café (1930-2007)
The Capitol Café was established on the north side of Talbot Street East in 1930 and named after the Capitol Theatre that stood beside it.
Johnny Jung took over the restaurant from his uncle Charlie Joong in 1965. Johnny Jung was born in Canton, China. Johnny and Jeannie Jung became the third owners of Chinese descent when they purchased the restaurant in 1965. They were open 365 days a year and their table jukeboxes were very popular with all their customers. Johnny took pride in the fact he never missed a day of business. The Capitol Café closed upon his retirement on May 31, 2007.

- Description
- Framed ink sketch of the Carnegie Public Library of Aylmer, drawn in 1998. Currently 62 Centre St., at the corner of Centre and Sydenham. We view the building as if approaching from the right side. The building is brick and two-storeyed, with an entryway flanked by Ionic columns. Above the doorway is an empty pediment, except for a semicircular window. Below the pediment is a sign which reads "PUBLIC LIBRARY." A set of curved stairs descends from the door, which expand as they reach street level. On the right hand corner of the building is the date "1912." Ivy climbs the walls of the building. In the bottom right corner of the image is the signature of artist Jane Hughes, and the year '98. The image has a dark green matting. Displayed in wooden frame and overlaid with glass. The inner border of the frame is golden in colour. On the back of the frame is a business card. Full text: "Pen & Ink House Sketches. Jane Hughes, 22 Centre Street, St. Thomas, ON N5R 2Z2, (519) 633-4218."
Built in 1912 in the Edwardian style and the Town's Library for 70 years, it was but one of many financed by a grant from U.S. Steel magnate, Andrew Carnegie.
Rusticated cement block, finely mortared red brick, and concrete lintels are typical of the style. The classical and Egyptian features about the door are unique. As of entry, June 2020, the building houses a Desjardins Insurance Agent.
