2_727: “The S. T. C. I. Cadet Corps is affiliated with the Elgin Regiment and is the only corps wearing the Elgin Regiment shoulder flashes. They are also the present holders of the Elgin Regiment Challenge Cup, having won it in competition with the rifle team of the East Elgin High School at Aylmer a short time ago. The S.T.C.I. team won the trophy from E.E.H.S. in this second year of competition, coming up from last place a year ago to first place. A.V.V.S. did not compete this year. Major Frank Greene, second in command of the Elgins, presents the cup to captain of the rifle team, Cadet Capt. Gary Previl. H. B. Moon was instructor of the team. From left to right are C. S. M. Warren Doan; Cadet Ray Freeman; Cadet Lt.-Col. Ralph Stucky; H. B. Moon, Capt. Gary Previl; Major Greene; Cpl. John Pountney; Sgt. Allan Cross and Cpl. Don Karn.”
2_729: “Major F. G. C. Darton, M.B.E., G.S.O. 2 (Cadets) at Central Command, Oakville, was inspecting officer of the S.T.C. I. Cadet Corps Monday afternoon in the Corps’ 73rd annual inspection. The Corps is one of the oldest in the Dominion. Accompanying Major Darton was Capt. J. A. Carson, Cadet Training Officer of Western Ontario Area. Seen in the above photo, left to right, are Major F. O. Lewis, M.B.E. chief instructor of S.T.C.I. cadets; G W. Trevithick, principal; Cadet Lt.-Col. Ralph Stucky, O.C. the S.T.C.I. Corps; Major Darton and Capt. Carson.”

Harry Medcalf on the left, and Brigadier J.A. W. Bennett, O.B.E., of London, on the right. Their pleased expressions reflect the enjoyment they got from a demonstration by the new Elgin Regiment Trumpet Band which they were watching when the phot was taken.”

2_1371: “Ten of the twelve members of the Elgin regiment’s NCO School we set a record of the unit this year by passing without a failure and all with exceptionally good standings appear in the above group photograph taken after parade Tuesday evening when they were formally promoted by Lt.-Col. F.H. Medcalf, O.F. Five new corporals appear in the front ranks, from the left: Cpl. K.C. Barnes, Cpl. C.E. McDowell, Cpt. T. Ward, Cpl. H.G. Jacobs and Cpl. J.A. Roberts. In the rear are four new sergeants, Sgt. Jack Taylor, Sgt, A.L. Bridgman, Sgt. B. Pilgrim, Sgt. R.C. Simms and Cpl. D. Littlejohn. Two were unable to attend who will become corporals. They were John Kaplanis and W.H. Johnson. The Intensive training conducted in the NCO School and in the conversion courses for three junior officers who were also successful in passing their examinations late last month was supervised by Major J.W. McNeil.”
