2_1342 and 2_1340: “Perfect June weather favored Alma College for baccalaureate Sunday, and above photograph shows, the long procession of faculty and students arriving at Knox Presbyterian Church for the baccalaureate service in the morning, after walking from the college down the tree-shaded streets. The students were all in white with the members of the graduating class in long dresses. The lower photographed shows the head of the procession leaving the main building of the college. In the front are Principal Bruce Millar and Mrs. Harper Sibley, of Rochester, N.Y., the speaker; and behind them Lady Eaton, of Toronto, a member of the college Board, and Rev. H.S. Rodney, minister of Knox Presbyterian Church.”

McCance, presiding over the coffee urn. Miss Taylor, who has been attending the University of British Columbia for the past two years, plans to enter Queen’s University, Kingston, in the fall. Miss Cosbie is a student at Rollins College, Winter Park.”
2_1364: “Miss Graciela Carchi (centre) of Guayaquil, Ecuador, a charming prize-winner, chatting with Mrs. J.E. Gray, Jackman avenue, Toronto, and the latter’s daughter, Eleanor Gray, with whom she will spend the summer vacation. Miss Carchi was on of the students to win the Hemmingway award in Grade IX, leading in her class in English, a language of which she knew very little when she came to the college last fall.”
2_1360: “Mrs. Anna Vaucrosson, of Hamilton, Bermuda (left), was her on Tuesday to attend the graduation of her daughter, Barbara, who received her diploma in matriculation. Also in the group is Mrs. Vaucrosson’s cousin, Mrs. H.L. Copland, of Toronto (second for right), and Miss Mona Murphy, of Toronto. Miss Vaucrosson, who in the role of “Puck” was one of the stars of the Commencement play this year, will accompany her mother home for the summer vacation and plays to return to Canada in the fall and take a pre-university course at McMaster University in Hamilton.”

2_1356: “Dr. P.S. Dobson, M.A., D.D., Principal Emeritus, photographed at the reception following Commencement, chatting with Miss Margaret Grindell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.M. Grindell, of Havana, Cuba. Miss Grindell, who graduated this year in dramatics, is one of the first group of students to come to Alma College some years who from Central and South America. She leaves this week to join her parents, who came to Canada recently, on a motor trip through Western Canada before retuning to their home in Cuba. Miss Grindell hopes to continues her dramatic studies in New York in the fall.”

2_3892: “Miss Agnes Wright, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F.T. Wright, of Brantford, valedictorian of the graduating class at Alma College, who expressed the farewell of the big class at the Commencement exercises held in the Garden Theatre on Tuesday afternoon. Miss Wright, who is graduating in Upper School, was also the recipient of the highest award of the commencement ceremony, the bronze medal in Senior Matriculation, the gift of His Excellency, the Governor-General of Canada. This was presented by Dr. G.E. Hall, president of the University of Western Ontario, with which Alma College is affiliated. Miss Wright, who has ben a student at Alma College for the past year, previously attended the Collegiate Institute at Brantford. She place to continue her academic studies.”

Mathers, presenting the Albert Carman scholarships, the gift of the late Albert Carman, D.D, LL.D., for general proficiency, to the four winning students, who are from left to right: Martha Biggar, of Ridgeville, Grade XII; Judy Wicks, of Cochrane, Grade XI; Emily Newton, of Strathroy, Grade X; and Mary Ellen Turchan, of Dearborn Mich., Grade IX.”

2_3901: “ A happy group photographed at the reception following Commencement. Front left to right, the three graduates are: Shizuya Sue Uyeda, Eileen Moritsugu, and Terry Teruya Yamashita. The first a daughter Mr. and Mrs. T. Uyeda, of New Denver, B.C., and a sister of Mrs. Robert Toyato, of Kitchener, the former Miss Fumi Uyeda, who before her marriage taught at Fingal and Copenhagen. Graduating in secretarial studies, she plans to take a position leading to this work at the close of term. Miss Moritsugu, who is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Moritsugu, R.R. 5, St. Thomas., Graduating in the stenographic course, is taking a position as music librarian and part time secretary at CHLO. Miss Yamashita, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Yamashita , of Toronto and at the close of the term will return to Toronto to take a stenographic position, graduating in Middle School and the stenographic course. All three girls received proficiency awards in the Commercial Course.”
2_3894: “It was by coincidence, but a very happy one, that the House Shield and the House Cup were presented to two roommates. Catherine Fingland, of Clinton, left, received the Shield as House captain of Lowe McLachlin, to which it was awarded; and Louise Waugh, of Windsor, received the cup as sports captain of Lower McLachliin, which won that coveted award also. Miss Fingland is one of the May Queen’s Counsellors this year.”

- Rev. Dr. Robert Ironsides Warner was born in the Niagara region on October 22, 1848, and died in St. Thomas in November 1924. He married Catherine D. Parsons and had two children, Robert Parsons Warner (died in infancy), Robert Ironsides Warner, and Wilfrid Warner.
He was an employee of Alma College for over 43 years, first as a Professor of Modern Languages at Alma College from 1881-1897, then as Alma College's Principal from 1897-1919. He was Principal Emeritus from 1920 until his death in 1924. While serving as Principal for the school, he also taught courses in Religious Knowledge and Psychology.
He also served in the ministry of the Methodist Church for over 47 years, and received an honourary Doctor of Divinity from the University of Victoria in 1902.
