- 606 Talbot Street, St. Thomas was taken over in late 1927 by the Sutherland Press Ltd., Frederick W. Sutherland, president. From 1928 to 1955, Sutherland Press shared the premises with the St. Thomas Box Co. Ltd. (and in 1929 only with the Lenox Manufacturing Co. Ltd., makers of overalls). From 1957 to 1983, Sutherland Press Ltd. is listed in city directories as the sole occupant of their building. From 1985 to 1993, the property is listed under the business name Loder-Sutherland, printing and advertising. The company printed books, pamphlets, and, for a part of its history, the town's newspaper, now the St. Thomas Times-Journal. The iconic headquarters of The Sutherland Press, Ltd. was one of the biggest and best of its time. 6

- husband and wife were practising doctors. Josiah opened a practice in St. Thomas in 1873. Maragaret, in 1881, entered medical school, at the age of 42. The first female doctor in Southwestern Ontario. They relocated to Australia in 1891.

- from the NARHF: "C. Norsworthy acquired the Red Foundry at the corner of Centre and Metcalfe Streets in 1871. The company made stoves, farm implements, steam engines and furnaces, amongst other items. In "Vignettes of Early St.Thomas", by Warren Miller, it is noted that Norsworthy received the manufacturing rights to a U.S. fire hydrant and that most of the existing (1967) hydrants in St. Thomas were made by Norsworthy under the Ludlow Hydrant name"
