- Seven black and white photographs used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published February 23, 1974 with captions:
- "Tricky Test - Transporting a loaded toboggan across a commando bridge was one of the tests tried by Scouts at last weekend's Elgin District Winteree. Points were awarded for teamwork and leadership as well as for skill in getting the load across the bridge without any part touching the ground." (31a)
- "Ice Rescue - With one of their number acting the role of a boy who has fallen through the ice, this Scout patrol is endeavoring to rescue him by throwing out a rope. Getting 100-geet of rope across a 30-foot gap is not quite as easy as it would at first appear." (31b)
- "What's Cooking - Vast amounts of food are consumed by Scouts at their camping events and a most important part of the camp set-up is the kitchen. Here members of the 1st Rodney Troop take a close interest in the efforts of the cooks for the day." (31c)
- "All Together Noew - Hauling a toboggan up and down the steep hills in the Kettle Creek valley north-east of St. Thomas takes teamwork as well as energy. these Scouts were taking part in the Elgin Scout Winteree last weekend." (31d)
- "First Aid - A broken left leg, a head injury and frostbitten fingers were the injuries these Scouts were required to treat at last weekend's Elgin Scout Winteree. Makeshift splints and bandages were used. Competing patrols provided their own "victim."" (31e)
- "Camp Chore - Why do I always get stuck with the dishes?" might well be the lament of this Scout as he valiantly scours the remains of a gourmet supper from a cooking pan." (31f)
- "Cosy Camp - Plastic sheeting has many uses in camping these days and these Scouts of the 11th St. Thomas (First United Church) employ it to good advantage to provide extra protection at their campsite." (31g).

Elgin District Commissioner Ken Fogal took the salute on a march-past as the Scouts marched to the church. During ceremonies at the church, the Scouts took the reaffirmation of promises and sang spiritual campfire songs. Rev. Lloyd Carver, of St. Andrews, gave a talk on values. The ceremony originally scheduled for the old Anglican church on Walnet Street was switched to St. Andrews because of the cold weather."
