The name Upper Canada was used until Confederation in 1867, and since then our province has been called Ontario , being named after Lake Ontario. �ELGIN ASSOCIATION OF BAPTIST CHURCHES. A General History. All ye, assemble yourselves and hear " ( Isaiah 48; 14) must have been the Bible verse that inspired the early Baptist settlers to band themselves together

"Attend Elgin Baptist Assembly - Elgin County Baptists had the opportunity to meet with leading Baptist ministers from across Canada at the 112th Annual Assembly of Elgin Baptist Churches during the weekend. Some of the delegates gathered during a break in the program in the office of Rev. L.V. Hultgren, pastor of Centre Street Baptist Church, which hosted the assembly, for a picture.
