Series also contains daily diaries written by James W. Smith of Talbotville, Ontario, which documents his activities on a farm north of Talbotville, as well as his interactions with members of the community, school registers and records, as well as reference books relating to Elgin County.

- Digitized copy of an original survey plan of the Township of Southwold, County of Elgin, registered December, 1810, Port Talbot, Mahlon Burwell, Deputy Surveyor. Shows the division of the township into concessions and lots with annotations dated 1817-1818 indicating the names of grantees resident on some of these lots. Scale 1 inch equals 40 chains. Named geographic and cultural features shown in this plan include Lake Erie, North Road, Middle Road, Lake Road, Cross Road, Kettle Creek, "Source of the West Branch of Kettle Creek" (with creek shown flowing from an area marked "Tamarack Swamp"), "Boundary between Dunwich and Southwold", footpaths marked "Indian Path to Kettle Creek" and "Old Path from the Mohawk Village", and a first nations village site marked "Delaware Village." Several lots are marked in gray (indicating Clergy reserves) and red ink (Crown reserves) or, to the same purpose, "Clergy" and "Crown". - The West Elgin Genealogical and Historical Society was formed in the late 1970's by a group of interested people in Western Elgin County. The aim of the Society is to exchange information between members on local genealogy and history, provide assistance to people researching family ties and history in Western Elgin, and to promote knowledge of the history of Western Elgin to the general public. Over the last 40 years the WEGHS has accumulated a significant archive of information related to local history and genealogy. A book on the Early History of Dunwich Township has been published and sold by the Society. In addition, transcripts of local cemetery stones have been made by Society members and copies are sold by the Society.

Named geographic and cultural features shown in this plan include Lake Erie, Clear Creek, Sand Hills, Hemlock Creek, Talbot Road, East Branch of Big Otter Creek, "Boundary Between Walsingham and Houghton", and "Boundary Between Bayham and Houghton".

- Digitized copy of an original survey plan of the Township of Yarmouth, County of Elgin. Registered January 7, 1814, Mahlon Burwell, Deputy Surveyor. Scale 1 inch equals 40 chains. Plan shows Talbot Road lots 46-73 (north and south), with annotations showing the names of grantees resident on these lots. Grantee names are also shown for some lots in Concessions I-VI. Geographic and cultural features shown in this plan include Lake Erie, Kettle Creek, Talbot Road, Edgeware Road, Beaver Creek and Catfish Creek. Various lots are marked as "Clergy" or "Crown" reserves. John Bostwick is shown as resident on Lots 1 and 2, Concession I and on Lot 1, Concession II.
