- Photographs of a 1935 Dodge that rolled into a ravine.
Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal, January 13, 1953, page seven: “Goes to Dump of Own Accord.”
2_2515: “It wasn’t ready for the dump heap, but that’s where this 1935 Dodge would up late last evening at the bottom of the Palm street fill near the banks of Mill Creek. It’s owner, a St. Thomas Brewers’ Warehouse truck driver, had been visiting friends on Mabel street Monday evening and left the car standing at the curb. When he came out, the car was gone. It had taken off of its own accord and traveled down the steep grade to the west and over the north side of the Palm street fill in the ravine, rolling over and over down the steep, brush-covered embankment. There its rueful owner finally found it, surveyed it resting upside down and left it until Tuesday morning before doing anything about getting it out of there.”

- Photographs of an accient in New Sarum involving a single car.
Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal on June 17, 1950, page one: “Car Plunges Over 115-foot Embankment; Driver Dies.”
2_3939: “When the car which he was driving east on No. 3 Highway shortly before six o’clock Friday afternoon missed the last of a double curve at New Sarum, Otho Elmanza Ulrich, 67, of Three Rivers, Mic., plunged over a 115-foot embankment to almost instant death.
Moments after the accident, a number of persons who reached the scene were able to life the car sufficiently to get the victim out from behind the steering wheel where he had been pinned. However, he dies a short time after. He was alone in the car when the accident occurred.
There were no eye witnesses of the crash, but according to a police report prepared by the investigating officer, Provincial Constable Jack Race, skid marks on the highway would indicated that Mr. Ulrich had applied his brakes 121 feet from where the vehicle crashed through guard rails skirting the highway.
It dropped 15 feet from the top of the cliff head first, bounced backwards and downwards about another 25 feet and rolled the remainder of the distance. It came to rest a short distance from a stream that is a tributary of Catfish Creek. A party of seven were required to carry the body a distance of about 400 yard to a point where an ambulance could be brought.
Coroner Dr. D.L. Ewin was called and ordered the body removed to the P.R. Williams and Son funeral home. It was later released with an announcement that no inquest would be held.”
