"It was in 1943 that Cec. Cox started his taxi business, operating with one cab from his home. Consciencious service to the public has resulted in a great expansion, and in nine short years has grown to one of St. Thomas' largest and finest taxi services. Today seven modern air conditioned cabs serve St. Thomas citizens, and the St. Thomas-Elgin Ambulance Service is owned and operated by Cec. Cox."

1_2854: "Wayne Bullers was a visitor in St. Thomas, Wedneday afternoon. And the moment Wayne arrived at Percy Spackman's Supertest Service Station at Talbot and Pearl streets, he attracted a crowd.
There was a reason for Wayne's ability to draw crowds. He is on a cross-country hop in a reconditioned 1909 two-cylinder Buick.
Wayne is a youg trucker who lives in Timlin, not far from Brookfield and Punxsutawney, in central and western Ohio."

- Two photographs showing the aftermath of an accident on the Wilson Avenue Bridge, St. Thomas, November 27, 1931. Image 63_20586a shows a wrecked car in the ravine at the foot of the bridge. Image 63_20586b shows the bridge surface with the area where the car crashed through the east side guard rail cordoned off and guarded by a police officer, with a large number of onlookers. A report on the accident was published in the St. Thomas Times-Journal, November 28, 1931, p. 1. Two men riding in the front seat, Howard Size (driver) and Samuel Robinson (passenger) survived; the passenger in the rear seat, Samuel A. Willis, died. 63_20586b shows several residences on the south side of Rosebery Place from the rear.

Charest puts the sledge hammer to a portion of the vacant building east of his dealership on Talbot Street after announcing this morning a $100,000 expansion to that property. The move, which will bring all the segments of his dealership together, is expected to be completed by the end of September. Watching the action, from his left are, Bob Boissoin, district sales manager for General Motors, Dave Thwaites, president of the St. Thomas Chamber of Commerce, and Ald. Ed Currah, acting mayor and president of the St. Thomas Industrial and Commercial Development Corporation." (1)
