Eva Cosens (nee Thompson) was born in Harrow, Ontario to the late Lennox and Silina Thompson. She was a long-term resident of West Lorne, Ontario with her husband, Sydney Cosens, and was known locally for writing articles on community and historical affairs. She often signed her articles with the initials "ETC". She died on May 29th, 1968 in St. Thomas and is buriend at the Colchester Cemetery in Harrow, Ontario.

-A booklet titled "Sidelights on the Talbot Settlement" written by Ella N. Lewis, and published for the Elgin Historical Society in 1938.
-A black and white photograph showing the Talbot Estate, captured on May 20, 1961. The following information is handwritten on the reverse of the photograph: "Dormer added by Mr. Ker when attic [unveiled] to bedroom in 1958. Garage also added in 1954, built from old timber of Col Talbot's blacksmith shop."

Custodial History
These papers were collected as part of a comprehensive study into the life and career of Colonel Thomas Talbot, the early nineteenth-century settlement agent whose authority extended over much of what is now southwestern Ontario. The research was conducted by Guy St-Denis in various archival repositories with the intention of publishing a new biography of Talbot. After the project was discontinued, the photocopied documents were preserved in hopes of being useful to future scholars of Talbot and his settlement. The files were compiled ca. 1985-2003.

-"Beauty Spot Acquired by Americans", London Advertiser, September 1, 1925. This article describes the recent purchase of the Talbot Estate by a syndicate of Detroit businessmen.
-"Talbot Estate to Become Park: Talbot Estate to Become Park: Government will Likely Take over Elgin County Property", March 18, 1936.
-"Cap Pfeffer Bids Farewell to Fabulous Talbot Estate", London Free Press, October 2, 1946.
-"1897 Novel Provides Character Study of Colonel Talbot", London Free Press, August 19, 1961. This article discusses the book "The Dear Old Farm" by C. Malcolm Sinclair, published in St. Thomas in 1897.
-"Farm estate makes the Colonel look good", by Joe Matyas, The London Free Press, July 17, 1971.
-a notice in the Globe and Mail, February 2, 1977, regarding the auctioning of 500 catalogued lots from the Malahide Castle in Ireland. The auction would take place at the Leaside Memorial Gardens Auditorium. Three years previously, the last male heir, Lord Talbot de Malahide, died, and the Irish government announced that it would preserve the castle as a historic site. But the castle's contents had to be sold to pay death duties.
