History / Biographical
The son of John Pearce and Frances Patterson, Leslie Pearce was born on September 7, 1807 in Erie, Pennsylvania and died on February 27, 1871 in Yarmouth Township, Elgin County. He married Jane Donaldson Barber on January 24, 1833 at the Old English Church in St. Thomas. They had seven children together, including Hannah, John B., Frances, Mary Izant, Caroline Martha, Leslie and Anna Elizabeth. At two years old, Leslie settled in Port Talbot with his family. He lived here with his parents until he purchased the East half of Lot 6, Concession 8, Talbot Road East, South Side, Township of Yarmouth, in 1831. Leslie was appointed Deputy-Reeve of the Township of Yarmouth in 1852 when the provisional council of Elgin County was first formed. Leslie and his wife, Jane, are buried in West Avenue Cemetery in St. Thomas.

John Seabury Pearce was born on June 15, 1841 in Tyrconnell and died on March 25, 1909 in London, Ontario. He was married to Mary Ann Wilson of Southwold Township on October 8, 1872 in Old English Church, St. Thomas. John purhcased 15 acres of land from his father's farm where he developed a cheese production business and, in 1874, John Seabury Pearce and William James Roos were joint proprietors of the Erie Cheese Factory of Dunwich. In 1873, he move to London where he went into partnership in the seed business. In 1903, he became Superintendent of London's Parks, a position he held until his death in 1909.

Joseph Pearce was born on February 10, 1852 in Tyrconnell and died on April 4, 1897 from typhoid fever. He was married to Elizabeth "Lizzie" Atwell on August 30, 1888 in Howard Township. She was born on July 20, 1863 in Ireland and died in 1913 in Pennington, South Dakota. Joseph and Elizabeth had three sons, including Victor, John and George. Upon Joseph's death in 1897, Elizabeth moved their children to South Dakota, where they lived with her brother, John Atwell. George Pearce married Lillian Roth and had four children, including Dale Warren Pearce. Dale died in 1943 in Tunisia during the Second World War at 19 years old.

Includes miscellaneous records relating to Thomas Pearce (3rd Generation), second son of John Pearce 2nd, and his sons, Ernest Hamilton Pearce and John Edward Pearce:
-Affidavit made by John E. Pearce in the Surrogate Court of the County of Elgin for the Estate of Sarah A. Pearce, dated 1943.
-The Last Will and Testament of Thomas L. Pearce, dated September 8, 1919.
-Copy of Schedule A, Surrogate Court of Middlesex in the matter of the Estate of Thomas L. Pearce, regarding parts of Lots 10 and 11, Concession 9, Township of Dunwich.
-Last Will and Testament of Sarah A. Pearce, dated June 23, 1943.
-Agreement between Thomas L. Pearce, John E. Pearce and Ernest H. Pearce, dated December 19, 1914, for the purpose of settling Thomas Pearce's affairs and as a family settlement. Accompanied with a "Schedule B" form the Surrogate Court of the County of Middlesex, which oultines the gifts received by each party.

-Miscellaneous records relating to Ernest Pearce military service; includes a letter and postcared, dated 1916 from C.A.M.C. Claude, Certificate of Protection issued to Ernest Pearce, as well as miscelleanous envelopes addressed to Ernest.
-Confirmation certificate for Ernest Hamilton Pearce, dated February 3, 1902, St. Peter's Church, Tyrconnell.

History / Biographical
William Pearce was born on February 1, 1848 in Tyrconnell and died in Calgary, Alberta on March 3, 1930. He was married to Margaret Myer of Seaforth on September 20, 1881. Together, they had seven children; twin boys died as infants. William graduated as a Civil Engineer from the University of Toronto and subsequently became one of the first surveyors of Western Canada, often referred to as "the Czar of the West". He moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1874, where he built the first house to have running water.
