Scope and Content
Eleven black and white photographs used (and two additional photographs not used) in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published June 5, 1968 (p. 6-F) with captions:
"Starting Point. The creation of a Falcon actually begins with a decision to buy, such as is being made by this young couple." (C8 Sh4 B2 F1 42a-42c)
"The building of a Falcon begins on a 9-station 'merry-go-round' where components such as the radiator support, pictured, are welded into a sub-assembly." (C8 Sh4 B2 F1 42d)
"With regularity and precision, the various underbody parts are brought together for assembly in a large welder." (C8 Sh4 B2 F1 42e)
"The completed underbody assembly is then bolted to two 'I' beam skids that will support it during the remaining production line operations." (C8 Sh4 B2 F1 42f)
"This Ford plant worker is removing a side assembly from the underbody prior to the unit entering the framing fixture." (C8 Sh4 B2 F1 42g)
"In this picture, Falcon side assemblies are being guided into the framing fixture and for the first time, familiar Falcon lines are apparent." (C8 Sh4 B2 F1 42h)
"Here the body sub-assembly is being re-matched with its underbody having passed through the first stage framing fixture. The framing fixtures are of a unique two-stage design specially created for this operation." (C8 Sh4 B2 F1 42i)
"Held securely by large suction cups, the roof panel assembly is lowered into position on the car body. It is now ready for welding. The body is then complete except for doors and deck lids." (C8 Sh4 B2 F1 42j)
"This operator is putting the Falcon's doors in position, using a special fixture that automatically sets the gap between the body and the door while the hinges are being attached." (C8 Sh4 B2 F1 42k)
"Special racks on the front of the unit carry the fenders as the whole assembly makes its journey to and through the paint shop. Here a worker attaches a left fender." (C8 Sh4 B2 F1 42l)
"Using power driven tools, a Ford worker attaches the deck lid- the trunk lid that is- to the Falcon body. The assembly is now ready for the paint department." (C8 Sh4 B2 F1 42m)

Scope and Content
Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published June 5, 1968 (p. 46-F) with caption: "The St. Thomas Assembly Plant of the Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited, has its own newspaper. Called the Ford Tower, the newspaper is published monthly and made its debut in August of last year. A four-page publication, the Ford Tower is inserted in Ford News, Ford's Canada-wide newspaper that is published by the central office at Oakville. Ford tower has its own specially designed masthead. In the top left corner is the bright red maple leaf 'Zero Defects' emblem that has become the symbol of craftsmanship at the St. Thomas plant. In the left hand corner of the masthead is an artist's drawing of the feature that is unique to the St. Thomas plant- the tall selectivity tower- a familiar landmark in the area. Ford tower is produced by the personnel services section of the industrial relations department. Packed with news about people, activities and plans at the St. Thoms plant, Ford Tower performs two other important functions in addition to that normally associated with a newspaper. Ford tower is a training aid. Ford Tower is an important tool in employee orientation. The first edition of Ford Tower carried this challenging headline on Page 1: 'Can Be Best In North America, Runyon Says In Plant Message'. The accompanying article was one of welcome from Plant Manager Marvin T. Runyon to all employees. If anyone wants to find out 'Who's Who' at the St. Thomas Assembly Plant then Ford Tower is a good place to look for such information. Not only will articles about management and department heads be found in its columns, but there are also informative descriptions of the functions of the many departments in the plant. These articles have contributed considerably to the success of the general orientation program at the St. Thomas plant. Ford Tower also carries many articles designed to further the continuing training program at the plant. Many of them stress the Zero Defects concept of 'Do It Right the First Time, Right from the Start'. How employees can prevent in-plant damage to component and partially finished units is one of the subjects given extensive coverage. Articles on plant safety, good work habits, protective clothing, etc., have also been featured. Almost every activity will sooner or later find its way into the pages of Ford Tower for the information and guidance of employees."

Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published June 5, 1968 (p. 32-F)with caption: "Mr. St. Thomas Ford Plant- Although this cute little fellow held by charming secretary Mrs. Judy Albert has not been given a name, he is a symbol of the high standard of craftsmanship of workers at the St. Thomas Assembly Plant. His head is a piston, representing the precise engineering required in building automobiles. His arms are micrometer callipers, an instrument used in making very accurate measurements. His feet are Johannsen gauge blocks, another instrument of accuracy.
