"Pointing the way - The arrow on this sign, located on Wellington Road, points the way to Meadow Green Tennis Club but not many people have been following its path lately. The club now has only 20 members and may be forced to close if that total doesn't increase significantly during the next year." (37e)
"Perplexing problem - Ed Banghart, left, and Bill McVety are in a dilemma. They own a quarter-million dollar tennis facility in St. Thomas - the Meadow Green Tennis Club - but have only 20 paid members at the moment. The two city businessmen say unless the total increases greatly over the next year, they may have to cease operation of the club, which is located on County Road 26 between Wellington Road and Dalewood Drive." (37f)
"Excellent facility - Owners of the Meadow Green Tennis Club claim it would cost at least $250,000 to erect the club's facilities, which includes six tennis courts and a clubhouse, at today's prices. Courts alone can cost as much as $20,000 to install and the bulbs for lighting four of the courts are priced at $150 apiece. Wendy practices about 12 hours a week and spends all her weekends during the winter in Barrie working out with the Southern Ontario junior female team. The hard work has paid off, however, as Wendy is now rated the top junior female skier (ages 17-18) in Ontario." (37j)
