Three black and white photographs used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published December 7, 1970 with captions:
"Discusses Training- Following his inspection of the Elgin Regiment honor guard yesterday, Lord Elgin toured the Wilson Avenue armory, stopping in the officers' mess, the sergeants' mess and the men's mess. In the latter mess, he chatted for a considerable length of time with a number of the militia members, many of whom are high school students, and discussed their training with the regiment, among other things. Shown listening to the honorary colonel are, from the left, Cpl. Gary Yeo, Cpl. Richard Newsom, Pte. Roger Connor and Pte. Gary Halpin." (C8 Sh4 B1 F1 66a)
"Awards Decorations- Some members of the Elgin Regiment received a rare honor on Sunday- the presentation of a Canadian Forces decoration from the honorary colonel of their regiment, Lord Andrew Douglas Alexander Thomas Bruce Elgin, 11th Earl of Elgin and 15th Earl of Kincardine. Above the Scottish nobleman pins the decoration on the chest of Major William Foster while Sgt. William Bennett, a member of the Elgin Regiment Trumpet Band, awaits his turn." (C8 Sh4 B1 F1 66b)
"Frosty Sunday- For the members of the honor guard who awaited the arrival of Lord and Lady Elgin, the wait was a cold, uncomfortable one. Outside of the Wilson Avenue armory on the parade grounds for some 35 minutes altogether, the guard quickly became snow-covered and red-faced. Pte. Adrian Gauthier, above, was one of the stalwart guardsmen who braved the biting cold and driving snow without flinching... too often." (C8 Sh4 B1 F1 66c)
