the Board until 1969, when the Elgin County Separate School Board was
formed. He became Chairman of the newly formed Board. Norbert Rivest

- W9 B6 210a was published in the West Lorne Sun on May 3, 1973, with the caption: "Church members from several area churches presented Easter music in Rodney United Church Sunday evening to almost a capacity crowd. Weeks of practice went into the two hour-long musicale, which was under the direction of the church's choir leader, Emerson Padfield. Singers were from the church, the Presbyterian Christian, and Baptist Churches, as well as from West Lorne United, Crinan and Kintyre Presbyterian Churches and Wardsville United. Rev. George Lewis of Rodney-New Gasglow-KIntyre, Presbyterian Churches, also a choir member, wrote the narrative which was read between numbers by Rev. James Vanslyke of the church."

- Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published October 5, 1971 with caption: "Discussing Church Union - Women from Anglican, United and Christian (Disciples of Christ) Churches from across Elgin met, Monday, at the Pearce-Williams Christian Centre near Iona for a full day of joint activities and discussions about the proposed church union. Shown here, from left, are Mrs. Murray Laidlaw of Summers' Corners United Church, president of the Elgin Presbyterial; Mrs. Charles Etherington of Trinity Anglican Church, St. Thomas; Mrs. John MacArthur of Princess Avenue Christian Church, St. Thomas; and Mrs. Ivan Simpson of First United Church, St. Thomas. Mrs. Etherington and Mrs. MacArthur were members of a panel discussion. Mrs. Simpson, chairman of the organizing committee, was also panel moderator."
