"Attend Elgin Baptist Assembly - Elgin County Baptists had the opportunity to meet with leading Baptist ministers from across Canada at the 112th Annual Assembly of Elgin Baptist Churches during the weekend. Some of the delegates gathered during a break in the program in the office of Rev. L.V. Hultgren, pastor of Centre Street Baptist Church, which hosted the assembly, for a picture. interest was created that nearly 3, 000 Non- Catholics turned out as well as area Catholics. One Baptist Minister was so moved that he wanted to walk in the procession — on being told that this might invalidate the rally he was content to stay among the spectators. In 1944, St. Mary' s Church was decorated in such a fine manner that in the opinion of competent critics it holds first place among the smaller churches of the diocese. At the rectory a new bathroom and hot water heating system were installed
