Re-elected were, Rev. J.L. Petrie, president; Jack Orrell, vice-president and Charles E. Baldwin, secretary-treasurer. Members decided the 51st anniversary service of the First World War would be held on Sunday, June 25. A wreath will be placed at the cenotaph on Pearl Street at 2 p.m. and a rememberance service will be held at 3 p.m. in the Legion Hall conducted by Mr. Petrie and Rev. Charles Cook. - " Thirteen surviving members of the 91st Overseas Battalion which was originally based in St. Thomas at the Elgin Regiment took part in the 64th reunion of the battalion on Sunday. There are less than 50 surviving members today of more than 600 who left to fight in the First World War in 1916. Those attending wreath-laying ceremonies were from left, front row: F.G. Ellis, Charles Caves, William Rutter, A.B. Freeman, Earl Lemon, Roy Gorvette, H. Watson, and Rev. J.L. Petrie, president of the 91st Battalion Association. In the back are Charles Baldwin, secretary-treasurer of the association, Art Gale, Ernie Mitchell. John Williams, and M. Morris." (31a)
- " The 64th annual reunion for the 91st Battalion Sunday also marked the first time in 50 years that the swagger stick shown in the photo above was on parade. The stick was given to St. Thomas Legion Branch 41 by Col. Warren Andrews, a former colonel with the Elgin Regiment. The stick is said to have been on parade with the 91st during its final parade before the Battalion went overseas under the command of Col. W.L. Green in 1916. Shown above with the stick are Johnnie Dunn, of the Legion, who was the sargeant-at-arms for the parade at the 64th reunion and who carried the stick in the parade; Charles Baldwin, of the 91st, who helped organize the event; Rev. J.L. Petrie, president of the 91st Batallion Association; Jim Baron, vice-president of the association; Max Morris, of the 91st and Reg Wilson, a Legion member." (31b)

The same bugle went oversas with Tiger in the Second World War and has survived to be played at the 91st's annual reunions in St. Thomas. Mr. Barrett is shown in front of a painting at the Legion which depicts a lonely bugler at a battle site."

The service, held at the World War One cenotaph, Pearl Street, was in observance of the 54th anniversary of the battalion's departure for overseas. Mr. Barrett's bugle, which has been stolen twice and recovered each time, was made in 1889 by Henry Potter Co., London Eng."
