- About 9 months after his arrival in Canada West, John Sanders leased the estate of Colonel Thomas Talbot in Port Talbot on the shores of Lake Erie from Talbot’s nephew Lieutenant-Colonel Richard Airey who in 1850 acquired title to the property.
