- Item History
- The church had been built in 1871 under the pastorship of Dr. T. L. Davidson. The cost of rebuilding was covered by $74,000 raised by the congregation along with $64,000 from insurance.
The Baptist congregation was established in Aylmer in 1816. In 1843 a frame chapel was constructed on the east side of John Street South. In 1871 a brick building was constructed on the same site. On July 12, 1950 a large fire gutted the church, leaving only the walls and tower remaining. On November 11, 1951 the Aylmer Baptist Church dedicated their new church building. In 1963 the chapel was constructed.
